One Injured In Kyle Canyon Crash
August 11, 2016
At least one person sustained injuries after a two-vehicle accident on U.S. Highway 95 just past Kyle Canyon Road. The Nevada Highway Patrol reported that the accident occurred early in the morning between a passenger car and a Toyota 4Runner. Debris covered the road, blocking northbound traffic at the time of the crash. The police have not released information on the victim’s name or age but did note that at least one of the people involved in the crash was being treated for injuries.
TWO-CAR COLLISIONS: COMMON FACTORS
Many of the accidents that take place in the United States are single-car accidents. Furthermore, the majority of the nearly 6 million car accidents that occur each year are simply “property damage” crashes. No one is hurt, although the car itself may need repair work. However, according to the United States Department of Transportation, there are about 37,000 fatalities each year due to road accidents. While this is a very small percentage of all crashes, it still represents more than 100 people per day who lose their lives in traffic accidents. Furthermore, nearly half of all crashes do result in some sort of injury to the driver or passengers, even if it is a “minor” injury. Traffic collisions between two or more vehicles can be classified by the type of impact. These types include:
- Head-on collisions. A head-on collision is one of the most dangerous types of accidents. These collisions often occur when one driver veers into another’s lane by accident or to avoid an obstacle in the road.
- Rear-end collision. These are the most common types of accidents and often result in whiplash-type injuries for those in the front car as well as injuries for those in the following car. Rear-end collisions actually account for a significant number of fatalities each year, although they are often considered to be more “minor” than head-on collisions.
- Side collisions. These types of collisions are common when one car hits another at an intersection. Sometimes that is because one driver has pulled away from a stop light or stop sign without yielding to oncoming traffic. In some cases, side collisions occur when one driver attempts to turn in front of another.
