Mother Dead, Child Injured In Vegas Crash
November 27, 2015
A 50-year-old woman and her 11-year-old daughter were involved in a two-vehicle accident that took place on Martin Luther King Boulevard, according to recent reports. The 19-year-old driver of a Crown Victoria was not injured, but the mother died and her daughter suffered minor injuries. According to North Las Vegas police, Belinda Sutton was driving a Ford F-150 pickup truck when she pulled out from a stop sign at Cartier into the path of the oncoming Crown Victoria. Alcohol does not appear to have been a factor in the crash.
LAS VEGAS CAR ACCIDENT STATISTICS
According to the Las Vegas Police Department, there were 3,882 total collisions in 2013, a reduction of 13.85 percent over 2012 figures. There were a total of 1,857 injury collisions and 18 total traffic fatalities, including motorcyclists, bicyclists, pedestrians and passenger car occupants. Car drivers and motorcycle riders accounted for 56 percent of all fatalities, while 44 percent of all deaths were evenly divided between pedestrians and car passengers. While Las Vegas did not have many fatal accidents, the high number of injury crashes, totally nearly half the number of all collisions, mean that thousands of people suffered painful and possibly debilitating injuries as a result of automobile accidents. Unfortunately, many of these victims probably never recovered compensation for those injuries.
WHAT CAN I DO IF I AM INJURED IN A CAR ACCIDENT?
One of the biggest mistakes people make when they are involved in a car crash is to make assumptions such as “I cannot collect any damages because I was deemed at fault in the accident.” This is not necessarily true; only a person with legal training can decipher the intricacies of the law and give a professional opinion on negligence in a car accident case. Further, you may be able to recover damages even if you cannot “prove” who was at fault in an accident. The most important thing you can do is speak to a personal injury attorney before making any important decisions. High Stakes Injury Law have been representing Las Vegas accident victims for many years and have the knowledge and experience necessary to help you make good decisions on your case.
