Man Dies In Las Vegas Car Crash Due To Rain-Slick Roads
March 20, 2014
A serious car accident resulted in the death of one man and the injury of three others when a car was struck by a pickup truck, according to recent reports. The victim, a 53-year-old Las Vegas man, was killed as he rode as a passenger in a Toyota 4Runner that was struck by a Dodge pickup truck after the owner lost control on Tropicana Avenue.
The truck driver was unable to control the vehicle and crossed the median, striking the Toyota. The driver of the pickup was injured and was transported to an area hospital, along with three people from the Toyota. The victim passed away about 12 hours later from his injuries. Police believe that the slick state of the roads from the rain was a factor in the accident. The investigation into the cause of the crash continues.
A “True” Car Crash–Is The Driver Liable?
There are cases in which it is clear that the driver was not acting aggressively, speeding or breaking the law in any way but still lost control of his or her vehicle. Can such a driver still be held liable for an injury or death caused by a crash, even if the crash was completely accidental or the result of circumstances? According to the law, every driver must be in control of his or her vehicle at all times. If a driver cannot handle driving conditions such as rain, snow or ice, the driver should not be operating the vehicle. A driver must also be careful to be aware of his or her surroundings and circumstances such as weather or other factors that can affect the way a vehicle handles. If the driver fails to do this, he or she is liable for the injuries caused by a crash.
