Man, 84, Dies In Moped Crash
July 29, 2014
Police sources have identified the 84-year-old man killed recently in a moped accident in Boulder City. James Kitchell died in an accident that may have involved a hit-and-run vehicle. Police are investigating to determine the true cause of the crash. Kitchell was riding a moped when he was discovered lying injured in front of the Boulder City library. Witnesses said that a red vehicle that was involved in the crash had fled the scene. However, police are not sure if the car actually struck Kitchell or if he simply swerved to avoid it and went to the ground on his own. Police do not believe speed was a factor. Kitchell was pronounced dead at an area hospital from his injuries.
ACCIDENT RECONSTRUCTION MAY ANSWER DIFFICULT QUESTIONS
Accident reconstruction is a way for a professional investigator to determine what actually happened in a crash when the causes are unclear or there are conflicting stories. Accident reconstruction involves several scientific methods of gathering information and using that evidence to make a determination as to the sequence of events that led to a crash. For example, an accident reconstruction expert may measure skid marks and calculate how fast a vehicle was going before impact. The expert may also interview witnesses, take photographs and build models to test various theories of the crash. Police sometimes use accident reconstruction experts to determine what happened in a crash, but most often they are hired by personal injury attorneys on behalf of a client who is seeking justice.
CAN I RECOVER DAMAGES IN A HIT-AND-RUN CRASH?
In some cases, accident reconstruction experts are called in to determine what happened in a possible hit-and-run crash. These experts may be able to tell a great deal about the vehicle that caused the accident, thus giving the police a better chance of catching the perpetrator. Even when a hit-and-run driver is not identified, however, it may be possible to recover damages from your own insurance company if you have been the victim of hit-and-run. In order to do so, however, you may need the help of a personal injury attorney such as those at High Stakes Injury Law in Las Vegas. We have been helping Las Vegas accident victims for many years to recover damages from both their own insurance companies and others.
