High-speed Intersections And Danger – Two Injured When Motorcycle Crashes Into Turning School Bus

March 12, 2014

All of us who live in Nevada understand that there are certain intersections where vehicles are coming at very high speeds. While the physics are different when vehicles are moving at a higher rate of speed, the process of determining whether or not it’s safe to make that turn is essentially the same, as we simply need to be sure that there is enough room. Unfortunately, when even the slightest mistake is made in this situation, it can and often does immediately lead to disaster. That’s especially true when a vehicle that is approaching a high-speed intersection is a motorcycle, as for some reason they are simply more difficult for motorists to see all the time. Not to mention, when a motorcycle crashes into a larger vehicle at a high rate of speed, the driver and any passenger on that smaller vehicle face dire consequences. Sadly, that appears to be what occurred last Friday morning when a three-wheeled motorcycle crashed into a school bus that was attempting to make a turn. Both people on the motorcycle were injured, and the driver was injured critically.

According to the report, the crash occurred in the southwestern part of the Las Vegas Valley at approximately 8:45 a.m. on Friday morning. The driver of a school bus was attempting to turn left from El Capitan Way onto Blue Diamond Road. Unfortunately, as the driver did so the bus was hit by an oncoming motorcycle. The speed limit there is 55 miles per hour, and no additional information was provided with regards to the people on the motorcycle. No one on the school bus was injured. First, we’d like to offer our thoughts and our support to the people who were injured in this Las Vegas motorcycle accident. We also hope that the investigation into the accident, which is ongoing, leads to fast and accurate results. Secondly, this crash will now become part of the body of statistics regarding bus accidents in Nevada.

Every year, more than 500 of these crashes occur, leading to dozens of injuries and to several fatalities. Based on the information available, it seems possible that the bus driver may have turned in front of the motorcycle, but nothing has been proven at this point. If that was what occurred, then it’s also possible that the people who were injured could evaluate a potential legal claim that would seek the recovery of damages for the harm that they have suffered. However, such a process could involve additional steps if the school district is involved. If you or someone you love has been injured because someone turned in front of you at an intersection, you need to take steps to protect your legal rights. You can do so by contacting the Las Vegas accident lawyers at High Stakes Injury Law today to schedule a free initial consultation.
